TKC's still have some life...

The Continental TKC 80's survived the trip, both the trail and gravel
and 2600 miles of slab, in good shape. I am impressed and will
probably get several thousand miles more out of them. Amazing
considering the terrain we covered and the weight of the 1150 GS.

Long Way Round to Key West

2665 miles from Moab to Key West in 7 days, or about 380 miles a day. My longest day was just over 560 miles, my shortest 140 miles.

Best part of the trip was finally seeing my wife again in Vero Beach Friday night after 13 hours on the motorcycle.

8 days ago I was in the falling snow/sleet on my birthday at 13,000 feet on a Colorado mountain top. Saturday, I was in the high desert in Moab, Utah. This morning I had coffee in the French Quarter of New Orleans and by the afternoon was standing in the white sands of a Florida beach. Tomorrow night I will be with my wife in Vero Beach and the next day back in Key West.

Complimentary Amuse Bouche to start the meal. Click to enlarge any

Courtyard coffee in NOLA

1657 miles covered since I left Moab Saturday.

Le Cirque Hotel

Thanks to my teammate and wife Colleen, I landed in a great hotel for
my night in NOLA. Nicest place I have stayed on the trip.

$60 and I parked my bike on the hotel grounds between the two hotel
buildings. Saved me $20 for parking.

New Orleans

French Quarter!

Made it.
430 miles yesterday, Fort Worth to Lafayette LA. And a bunch of
stories to tell when I get my laptop set up tonight.

About 60 miles outside of New Orleans right now. And only 800 miles
from my wife. I can't wait to see her...

Leaving Fort Worth/Dallas

It's 6:15am and I am heading into Dallas early rush hour traffic.
First day back to work after a holiday. I am wearing my bright yellow
rain jacket with reflective striping, even though it's like a hot oven
with it on, because you can see me a mile away with it on.
